3. What makes a jewellery piece waterproof and tarnish-free?
Jewellery is considered waterproof and tarnish-resistant when made from materials that do not react to moisture, oxygen, or chemicals. This typically includes:
High-Quality Stainless Steel & Titanium Steel Naturally resistant to water and tarnishing.
Gold or Rhodium Plating over Stainless Steel Offers extra protection but may wear off over time.
PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) Coating, A long-lasting, highly durable coating that enhances resistance to fading and tarnishing.
To extend the lifespan of any jewellery, we recommend avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals, perfumes, and excessive moisture.
4. How do I clean my jewellery?
To keep your jewellery looking its best, follow these cleaning tips:
- Stainless Steel & Titanium Steel
Use warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Gently wipe and dry thoroughly.
- Gold-Plated Jewellery
Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface and avoid abrasive cleaners that may wear down the plating.
- Alloy & Copper Jewellery
Clean with a jewellery polishing cloth and store in an airtight container when not in use to slow down oxidation.
- Cubic Zirconia Stones
Use a soft brush with mild soap and water to maintain their sparkle.
Avoid using harsh chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners, or rough materials that may scratch or damage the jewellery.
5. I have waterproof pieces, but they look dull or tarnished. How can I refresh them?
Even waterproof jewellery can accumulate dirt, oils, and product residue over time. To restore its shine:
- Soak in warm, soapy water for a few minutes and gently scrub with a soft brush or cloth.
- Use a jewellery polishing cloth to buff out any dullness or fingerprints.
- For stubborn spots, a mixture of baking soda and water can help remove buildup (only for stainless steel or titanium pieces).
- Dry thoroughly to prevent water spots or streaks.
Regular cleaning and proper storage will keep your jewellery looking brand new.
6. How do I protect the gold-plated surface layer of my jewellery?
Gold-plated jewellery requires extra care to maintain its colour and finish. To extend its lifespan:
- Avoid exposure to water, sweat, and perfumes, as these can cause the plating to fade over time.
- Store in a dry, soft-lined jewellery box or pouch to prevent scratches and oxidation.
- Remove jewellery before showering, swimming, or exercising to minimise wear and tear.
- Gently clean with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove oils and dirt.
With proper care, gold plated jewellery can retain its beauty for years.

8. Does hypoallergenic jewellery mean nickel free?
Not always. Hypoallergenic jewellery means it’s less likely to cause an allergic reaction but it does not necessarily mean 100% nickel free. Some metals labeled as hypoallergenic may still contain trace amounts of nickel but they are usually coated or mixed with other metals to reduce skin irritation.
For jewellery, hypoallergenic metals (like stainless steel, gold vermeil, and solid gold) are less likely to cause irritation. However, if you have a severe nickel allergy, even hypoallergenic stainless steel may not be suitable since it contains a small amount of nickel.
